Amazon KDP Cover Rules You Must Know

1. The 130-Page Spine Text Threshold Amazon POD machines mechanically fold covers. On books with fewer than 130 pages, variance in the paper fold can shift text over the crease onto the front or back cover. Amazon's automated scanner will reject any text placed on spines under 130 pages.
2. Barcode Exclusion Zone (2.0" × 1.2") Amazon automatically stamps their ISBN barcode in the lower-right area of your back cover (0.25" from bottom trim, 0.25" from the spine or edge). Never place titles, blurbs, testimonials, author bios, or logos within this 2.0" × 1.2" rectangle.
3. The 0.125" (1/8") Outer Bleed Your wraparound cover PDF must be exactly 0.25" wider (0.125" left + 0.125" right) and 0.25" taller (0.125" top + 0.125" bottom) than the book's trim dimensions. Background artwork must stretch all the way to this outer edge.
