Metadata Best Practices

Title Matters

Clear, searchable titles rank better. Include the genre or hook. Avoid ALL CAPS and excessive punctuation.

Keywords Strategy

Use all 7 slots. Target 2-3 word phrases: "fantasy adventure" not just "fantasy." Check category bestsellers to see what's working.

Category Choice

Pick your top-ranked category, not the most competitive. Top 100 in a smaller category beats top 10,000 in a huge one.

Subtitle Power

Subtitles clarify what your book is about: "The Heir" → "The Heir: A Fantasy Epic." Helps with search and clarity.

Description Hook

First sentence appears before "Read more." Make it irresistible. Set reader expectations about genre, tone, and pacing.

Series Consistency

Use identical series names across all books. Format: "Series Name" (not "The Series Name Book 1"). Book #1, #2, etc.
